Essential Oils Safety Tips for Children and Babies

* Always store essential oils in a coot dark place out of your children’s reach. The safest bottles have a dropper insert which will prevent a child from accidentally swallowing any essence should he get hold of it. Pipette bottles are not safe to use with children around.

* Do not use a candle burner in children’s bedrooms. Instead use an electric vaporizer or place drops on your child’s pillow case or pyjamas.

* Never give your child essential oils to swallow.

* Neat essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin unless specified – for example, Lavender can be dabbed onto minor burns.

* Do not attempt to treat a child who is seriously ill without first contacting your doctor.

* Essential oils are highly volatile and flammable, so must always be kept away from fire or flames of any kind.
